Microsoft SNDS

We support importing reputation and IP status data from the Outlook.com Smart Network Data Services (SNDS), so you can monitor how your sending IPs are seen by Outlook.com, Hotmail, and the rest of Microsoft's email platform, right alongside your other RBL checks.

This is a premium feature, available on Enterprise, Ultimate, and any plan with premium sources. It is IP-based, so it applies to your IP and CIDR hosts.

You connect one or more Microsoft accounts with read access to your SNDS data. We then pull your SNDS reports once a day and check them against your monitored hosts, raising an alert when an IP's reputation or status indicates a problem.

What we import

For the IPs in your SNDS account we collect two SNDS reports.

Data report (per-IP reputation):

  • Filter result: the Outlook.com spam-filter verdict for each IP (green, yellow, or red).
  • Complaint rate: the user-reported complaint rate sampled for the IP.
  • Activity: the message volume and sending activity Microsoft records for the IP.

IP status report:

  • The IPs Microsoft currently flags with an abnormal status (for example blocked, bot, or junked), along with the reason Microsoft provides.

How it fits together

  1. Set up SNDS access for your IP ranges with Microsoft.
  2. Connect your Microsoft account in the portal.
  3. Enable the checks you care about on your Monitoring Profiles.

Pricing

There are no additional fees for importing SNDS data. IPs you choose to monitor are billed as regular hosts under your plan.
